Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me. PS. 47:10

When I was 14 years old, I watched my mother die of alcoholism. Right after her funeral people came and took my baby brother away to live with his father. I felt so alone and hurt. I just wanted to die too.

It was a hard year for me. I got pregnant, and when Social Services found out that I was living with my boyfriend, they came and took me away too. They sent me to NAOMI to live with Linda. When I first came here I was lonely and I hated it here. I did not want to be here. I cried and cried. First, I lost my mother and brother and now my home and my boyfriend. I missed my cat too.

Then something wonderful happened. I started going to church with Linda and the other kids, and I asked Jesus into my heart. Slowly, things started to work out. I even started to like it here.

I learned that if I prayed, Jesus would answer me. So, I prayed and asked to Lord to let me go home for a visit. He answered my prayer the very next day! My Aunt came and got me for the weekend, and I got to see my baby brother, my boyfriend, and all my relatives. It made me happy. What really surprised me most was, while I was at home, I missed being at NAOMI.

I am learning to trust God, and that He loves me. I have learned, even though my mother and father are not with me, that God always is. I am glad that the Lord sent me to NAOMI. One day I hope to have a children's home like this where I can help other children the way I have been helped here.
